Kingdom Builders Memorial Fund

About

Over the years our Church has developed the “Kingdom Builders Memorial Fund” (formally called the memorial fund). This is a special fund people can donate to in honor of a loved one. As this fund has grown, our elder board determined to make this fund a “living fund”-- planting seeds in people over buildings. Every dollar donated to this fund is set aside to be invested in people who are doing the work of the Kingdom (mission work, outreach, ministry, non-profit work, etc). In an effort to be more proactive with this fund, we have developed an oversight committee who will seek out people we can invest in. We do not want to be a people who “sit on the talents the Lord has given us” (Matthew 25:14-30).

Jesus is the answer to the greatest longings of my soul. In Him I have found the Truth, hope, and salvation. In Him, I belong and am known. Through His transforming and redeeming work, He enables me to live a true and abiding life for God, bringing a joy that surpasses anything this world can offer. It is my sincerest desire to share this life-changing hope and soul-swelling satisfaction with others.

I sense God leading me toward pastoral ministry, discipleship, and teaching. As I continue to seek His direction, I am pursuing further theological education and preparing for the opportunities He may place before me to serve and equip the Church.

Currently, I serve as Worship Director at Cornerstone Community Church, where I oversee worship ministries and help lead worship for a variety of church gatherings throughout the week. I am also preparing to begin seminary while balancing life as a husband and father of four. My passion is to equip others to use their gifts, lead people into authentic worship, and help build a Christ-centered community where lives are transformed by the Gospel.

Stephen Montez

Jesus changed my life by giving me hope, purpose, and a new identity. Through His grace, He has shown me that no matter my past, anyone can begin again. Jesus truly changes everything.

I believe God is calling me into discipleship, encouragement, and teaching ministry. I have a passion for sharing the hope of Christ, helping others grow in their faith, and using my testimony to point people to the transforming power of the Gospel.

Currently, I work and live on an almond ranch in Chowchilla while serving at Cornerstone Community Church. I am involved in Kitchen Ministry, Celebrate Recovery, men’s discipleship with Pastor Logan, and Brothers, Bibles & Barbecue alongside John, where I continue to be mentored and grow in my faith. I enjoy serving during special church events throughout the year, including Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Vacation Bible School, and other opportunities to support the church family. I also have an interest in serving in production ministry as I continue to discover where God can best use my gifts.

I am grateful for the grace Jesus has shown me and for the opportunity to serve alongside the Cornerstone family. My desire is to faithfully follow Christ, love people well, and help others discover that Jesus changes everything.

If there is one thing I want people to know about me, it is that I am a recipient of God’s grace. Looking back on my life, I can see His faithfulness in ways I never recognized at the time. Even during seasons when I was far from Him and making choices that led me further from His will, God never stopped pursuing me. Through Jesus Christ, He has shown me mercy I did not deserve, forgiveness I could never earn, and a new purpose for my life. My story is not ultimately about where I have been, but about the faithfulness of a Savior who continues to redeem, restore, and transform lives. Because of what Christ has done for me, I am convinced that no one is beyond His love, mercy, and power to save.

I believe God is calling me to serve and minister to people who feel broken, distant from God, or convinced they have gone too far for Him to help. Through my own hardships and life experiences, I have seen firsthand that God’s grace reaches farther than we can imagine. Because of what Christ has done in my life, I have a passion for walking alongside others, sharing the hope of the gospel, and helping people discover that their past does not define them, Jesus does.

Currently, I serve on the Production Team at Cornerstone Church and work as a supervisor at a metal fabrication plant. I am also a husband and father, roles that continually teach me about God’s faithfulness, grace, and responsibility. As I continue pursuing opportunities for biblical education and ministry training, my desire is to faithfully use every opportunity God provides, whether at home, at work, or in ministry, to help grow His Kingdom and point people to Jesus Christ.

Grant Application

If you feel called to ministry or missions, we'd love to connect and explore how we can partner in Kingdom work.

The Process

Application:

Applicant must be a regular attendee at our worship services. Every person interested in becoming a partner with us will need to fill out the application. Our team will not consider any applicant until the application is filled out completely.

Review:

The oversight committee reviews the application and determines if the applicant's request is something Cornerstone should pursue investing in. If the committee approves the application, they will move on to the next step in the process.

Interview:

The oversight committee interviews the applicant to determine character, faith, needs, passions, gifting, education, and the legitimacy of their call. If the committee determines that they would like to pursue a partnership, they will move on to the final step in the process.

Partnership:

The oversight committee will make a one-year commitment* to partner with the applicant in some way.

Commitment

Cornerstone Commitment: We will invest time and funds in the applicant. This offer will be tailor made for each applicant, it could cover tuition, housing, or come in the form of a monthly stipend. In addition, Cornerstone will provide a “person of contact” for the applicant, this will be the direct supervisor for the applicant, (s)he will commit to investing time and energy into the applicant. Applicants Commitment: S(he) will agree to work in some form of ministry that will bless our local community (a ministry at Cornerstone or a local non-profit). This work must be Kingdom-minded (Christian). In addition, the applicant will agree to meet regularly with the “POC” for support and accountability. In the agreement, there will be a tailored made plan of pursuing some sort of education in the area they feel called to (college, seminary, certification, training, etc). *If the applicant wishes to continue after the one-year commitment, s(he) will be required to reapply for the fund.
