Welcome to Cornerstone Community Church Online; we are glad you found us. We understand that looking for a church home can be overwhelming. We know that many research a church online long before they step foot in the door. We want to provide you with all of the information you are seeking so if you choose to visit us for a worship service, you will be comfortable and know what to expect.
Cornerstone Community Church began in 1998, when several families decided to form a church and began to look for a building. The group began worshipping with the First Presbyterian Church in Chowchilla. Soon after, the two congregations joined together and formed Cornerstone Community Church and became a member of the Classis of Central California of the Reformed Church of America. Reverend Ed Fikse led the congregation as Interim Pastor until the summer of 1999, when Reverend Michael J. Scott began his ministry as Senior Pastor. At that time, 68 families or approximately 223 individuals called Cornerstone Community Church their church home.
Many have said that when they walk into a Sunday morning service, they felt a sense of belonging or hospitality that differed from what they had experienced in the past. As a result, the congregation and ministries of Cornerstone began to grow and draw in people from the community and surrounding areas. It wasn’t long before the church had outgrown the facility and began to build a new facility to house the expanding congregation. The new sanctuary is designed to hold 550 people. The first worship service in the new facility was held on June 18, 2006. With the new building, came many more ministry opportunities, including a preschool ministry in February, 2009, and a flourishing youth program. The congregation recently voted to expand the facility and parking lot by adding an education wing to accommodate more people and ministry programs. On an average, Cornerstone Community Church now ministers to over 600 individuals.
We as a church, are proud and humbled by what God is doing within us and are looking forward to see what God has in store for us as a church community in the years to come!

Our Core Values – Who we are
A CHRISTIAN CHURCH: We believe in the basic doctrines of the Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed. At the heart of our belief is the Gospel – the Good News that Jesus Christ, the son of God, died on the cross for our sins, and arose from the dead so that we can have eternal life.
A BIBLE BELIEVING CHURCH: We believe the Bible is the Word of God and is our guide for faith and life. You will hear and learn the Bible at Cornerstone Community Church, in sermons, in every teaching, and you will see it lived in the lives of our people.
A CHRIST-CENTERED CHURCH: We strive above all to be a church where the Lord Jesus Christ is exalted, worshiped, taught, and served. We proclaim Him to be our only Savior and Lord.
A REFORMED CHURCH: We belong to the Reformed Church of America, the oldest Protestant denomination in the United States.
A PEOPLE CHURCH: Next to the Lord, people are our greatest concern. We love and care for all kinds of people – babies, youth, teenagers, adults, and seniors. You will be important and you will be loved at Cornerstone Community Church.
A FAMILY CHURCH: All types of families are welcomed – single parents, two parent families, young adult singles, widows, etc. At Cornerstone Community Church, you will immediately sense that you are a part of God’s family.
A DIVERSE CHURCH: The people of Cornerstone Community Church are diverse in terms of race, social/economic status, education, occupation, age, and various religious backgrounds. Among our diversity, we still share together a rich relationship with Jesus as our Savior and Lord.
A MESSY CHURCH: At Cornerstone Community Church, we are not perfect people! We come with a variety of problems, issues, and hurts. We look to the grace of Jesus Christ to restore our broken/messy lives. We are a forgiven people who belong to this particular family of God.
A POSITIVE CHURCH: We avoid legalism – that is, man-made commandments. We stress the positive Christian faith. We are convinced that we can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us!
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, without error, and the only authority for life and faith.
We believe all people were created to have fellowship with God; but our sin separates us from God, subjecting us to His holy judgement.
We believe the One, true God exists eternally and equally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe God, the loving Father, is the Lord and Sustainer of all creation.
We believe Jesus, God’s son, came to earth, lived a perfect life, died, and was raised, providing the only way to a right and ever-lasting relationship with God.
We believe the Holy Spirit is God living in Christ-followers empowering them to live a life that pleases God.
We believe the Church is the community of Christ-followers existing to glorify God and, to prepare Christians to love and reach a lost world.
We believe worship is a daily, active response of gratitude, praise, and service, declaring God’s worth in every aspect of life.
We believe prayer is communicating with God, expressing our praise, confessing our sins, making requests of Him and submitting to His will.
If you search yourself and are truthful, you know something’s missing. It has been described as a God-shaped hole that only He can fill. Many go through life in a hopeless state looking for something to give them purpose. If this is where you are at, then we are glad that you are here.
We want you know there is hope and His name is Jesus!
At Cornerstone, we strive to make clear the opportunity that every individual has to be rightly related to God through the person of Jesus Christ.
We believe that God relentlessly pursues each one of us with relationship and purpose in mind.
Humanity, because we are marred and affected by sin, cannot by ourselves be saved from God’s punishment for sin, which is hell.
This is why we need Jesus!
Jesus’ substitutionary death on the cross makes possible for us to be forgiven and cleansed of our sins by His blood poured out for us. By trusting in the payment He made for us, we obtain the salvation He freely gives to all who call on His name.
